To ensure our individual attention to each pupil/horse team we offer tuition in Schooling-on-the-Ground, classical dressage and carriage driving according to the Achenbach method as

All formats, including the clinics, consist of individual practical lessons, allowing you to learn and proceed at your own pace and to discuss your individual matters. Additional theory lessons complement the tuition.

In your practical lessons you acquire the skills to train your horse first from the ground and later on all movements mounted or in the carriage.

The theory lessons impart to you profound knowledge about horse schooling like the elements of the training scale and their interaction, horse psychology and anatomy, which equipment to use (and which not) and much more.

Enjoy, together with your horse, moving through the elements of Schooling-on-the-Ground, striving for elegance and lightness according to classical-Iberian principles.

All tuition formats are intense methods of teaching, focussing on the maximum of individual schooling success, so that you can confidently consolidate at home what you have learned at the workshop, clinic or private lesson ... until you feel ready to learn more.

Horses of all breeds are taken, young horses as well as horses for re-training. Stallions, mares and geldings are equally welcome but your horse must be at least 36 months old.

Generally, lessons are given at the Schooling-on-the-Ground Centre at Penrose in the Southern Highlands of NSW, half way between Sydney and Canberra. Please contact us to find out if clinics are held also in your area or if private workshops can be arranged.

Private workshops

Practical and theory lessons* Own horse required

Private workshops are ideal if you prefer private tuition but live too far away for single private lessons or if you cannot make it on the clinic dates. Dates for private workshops can be arranged for weekends or during the week.

You can choose between the following formats, all are one-to-one tuition, practical and theory, with no other pupils present:

v 1/2 day workshop of 3 hours

v 1 day workshop with 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon

v 2 day workshop with 3 hours in the afternoon or evening of the day of your arrival and 3 hours the following morning

v On request a workshop can be extended to several consecutive days, e.g. a week during your annual leave.

Basically you work with your own horse but our school master horses are made available to you where appropriate.

Clinics

Schooling-on-the-Ground intensive clinic

Our intensive clinics are the most cost-effective and efficient way for you as you can also learn from watching the lessons of the other participants. You will not find a clinic like this anywhere else in Australia:

All practical lessons exclusively one-to-one, no group teaching

Private lessons

Schooling-on-the-Ground, Riding (classical dressage),

Carriage Driving (Achenbach method)

Individual practical lessons of 40-45 minutes * Own horse required

Private lessons are recommended if you can take a lesson on a regular base once a week or if you want to refresh a few details you have learned before in a private workshop or clinic.

In carriage driving, private tuition is also available as a double lesson at nearby Penrose State Forest.
