Classical-Iberian & Circensic Horse Training

h Training

We pride ourselves in quality, not quantity!

We train all horses conscientiously and in accordance with classical-Iberian principles. By a combination of lungeing, double lungeing, work in hand and riding your horse will be able to carry you unscathed and perform willingly and effortlessly, responding to finest aids in doing so.

Due to the natural asymmetry in all horses the locomotion apparatus is unevenly loaded, therefore equal musculature cannot develop. The partial overload is enhanced if the horse is not straightened, leading to problems like tilting the poll, stiff neck, leaning on the bit, back problems, lameness, wear and tear etc.

These problems, or vices like rearing or pigrooting, can be avoided by reasoned training. Elaborate exercises straighten your horse, thus relieving his joints, tendons and ligaments. Building correct muscles enable him to perform all movements up to a great age.

As our training is very intense our prime principle is to allow the horse to set the pace. Such things as short-cuts or quick-fixes do not exist here.

Skilful lungeing instead of "tying a parcel"

Your horse learns to relax and move in balance and rhythm. We never force him into a desired frame by tying him into it but encourage him by use of various lungeing techniques and exercises to find it himself.

Schooling from the ground as a basis for riding and driving

Lungeing, double lungeing and work in hand build the musculature your horse needs to confidently carry a rider or pull a carriage.

Riding

Sound basic education and further training develop a motivated, co-operative horse that moves in harmonious self-carriage and lightness.

Lateral movements from the ground and under saddle

Lateral movements and narrow turns straighten your horse and give him suppleness and charisma and improve his self-carriage.

Work over cavaletti

This improves the leg-eye co-ordination, balance and concentration.

The "muscle trail"

We have an excellent training trail on our property, a round track of nearly 3 kms length on varying terrain that we call the "muscle trail". At first it is sloping down gently but then climbing one minute and descending the next and finally winding up a gully in three steep hairpin bends. The trail is ideal for building muscles and benefits a horse's balance and sure-footedness along with his inner strength.

Training starts from a period of 4 weeks, however, most effective and sensible is an ongoing training of 12 weeks. What is more, within a longer period of training we also can identify your horse’s special talents.

Like we keep our clinics exceptionally small in order to ensure our individual attention to each horse and his owner we don't take in more than two horses at a time for training.

Your horse will be trained 6x per week by Ull Paschen herself and not by a groom, apprentice or helper.

Your horse's education follows an individually arranged training goal. We highly encourage you to communicate freely with us throughout the training process so that we can meet or better yet exceed your expectations.
